Amboise, in the Touraine region, where living is an art!

In the world-famous Loire Valley and its chateaux, Amboise is a little city counting around 12.000 inhabitants. Renowned to house an amazing castle, and the last mansion of Leonard de Vinci, you will like the hilly landscape covered with vineyards.

About France

Amboise is a perfect starting point to discover medieval and renaissance architecture of the Loire Valley.

In the city are 25 historic monuments such as the Clock tower, the castle or the "Clos Lucé" mansion. Visiting the castle you will learn more about the history of France. From Louis the XIth to Louis Philippe, you will go through more than 500 years! Admire the architecture and the precious pieces of furniture, wow discovering the flamboyant gothic chapel with its lace of sculptures, and engage in private prayer Leonard de Vinci supposed to be buried here.

Head the "Clos-lucé", house of the brilliant painter, and discover one of his inventions in the park surrounding the building.

    Convenient Rail |
"This was a quick convenient way to get from Orleans to Amboise. "

    Very comfortable  |
"Train was on time, we had an 8 berth compartment to ourselves (2 mid 50s women) so there was plenty of room for our luggage. If you travel with cases they don't fit in the overhead luggage racks on most trains. It takes you straight into the centre of Paris- was a €6 taxi to our hotel on the Left Bank. I'd recommend train travel within France it's fast and convenient. "

    Be aware of steps |
"Good connection with the train from the airport. No seat reservation but we had no trouble getting one. There wasn't any place for suitcases to be stored so we kept hold of them, but it was only a 10 minute trip so it wasn't an issue. Be aware that there are lots of steps to get from one platform to the other/ exit at Amboise if you have large and/or heavy cases! "

    Train travel, covers country  |
"Out ticket was booked on line in Australia, but not able to be printed at the time. At Amboise, there was some difficulty in retrieving our booking. Carying suitcases on staircases is very difficult between platforms. From there train travel was splendid. Comfortable seating. Clean carriages. On Time. My Favorite means of travel in France. "

"All faultless. Trains on time. There was a concern that our luggage being away from us made it vulnerable. But no problems. Great value, and trains on time to the second. "
