Overview

Holland’s jazzed up port city

Rotterdam,a cultural dutch city along the water

Rotterdam is the world’s busiest port and a cosmopolitan gateway to the continent. It’s a forward-looking city, with ambitious angular architecture and an exciting art scene. Catch the flamboyant Zomercarnaval, summer highlight of a packed festival calendar, or just enjoy the vivacious nightlife scene.

About Netherlands

Start your visit with one of the oldest monuments remaining in the port town, the City Hall. Its striking sculptures give us clues about the history of Rotterdam.

Still in the town centre, you will be amazed by the "cubical houses" or "tree-houses", built by Piet Blom. They are considered as a symbol of Rotterdam. If you don’t suffer from dizziness, take the elevator to the top of the Euromast, the highest observation tower in the Netherlands, and enjoy a magnificent view to Anvers in Belgium!

If you are an art lover, two museums must be discovered : The "kunsthal" and the "Boijmans Van Beuningen", both located in the Museumpark.

Train station(s)

Trains are a convenient way of reaching many towns and cities throughout Europe. The majority of cities in Europe have a minimum of one train station, while larger, more populated cities have two or more stations. Train stations, in general, are located in the heart of the city. Review the map below to get an idea of where the train station(s) in Rotterdam can be found.

"Train trip was great, except there is not enough room for cases. There needs to be more storage so cases aren't stored in the doorway as there's not enough room. "

    My review |
"We travelled first class and the trip was comfortable, punctual and the staff very good. The seats were more comfortable than the Thalys. Boarding and disembarking was a lot easier than flying. It was a great way to travel, However, in contrast to the Thalys, there was no offer of drinks or snacks during the journey. If we wanted anything to eat or drink we had to go to the Food/Drink bar and pay for desired items. We were expecting it to be like the Thalys and at least get a cup of tea or coffee but it was not offered to us at any stage of the journey. Also, we were unable to connect to the free WiFi for reasons unknown. Considering it was a first class ticked I was rather disappointed in that. "

    Booking issue |
"We had to make travel arrangements at the last moment before leaving Australia. Not receiving the tickets and full confirmation for 3 working days is not very reassuring as we had to book and pay for a hotel as well at the same time, whilst not knowing whether we had a secured seat on the train. In this day and age booking should be instant. Train trip to Paris was excellent. Return trip had some major issue in regards to cleanliness in the toilet department with the ladies toilet closed and the gents with almost an inch of liquid on the floor. In the final analysis - booking process for Australians is poor, train, seating comfort and speed of transport is fantastic and then the toilet issue - we leave that up to your imagination. "

"From the centre of one capital city to another - the ease of catching a train rather than the hassle of airport transfers and time wasted for check in and boarding. This is the most efficient use of time when travelling. And it was quite comfortable - sure it's not a limousine but it's more than appropriate for the price. "
