Overview

Board on Train to Benelux!

Benelux is the name given to designate three neighbouring countries of western Europe. The three countries are the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Each of the three countries has its own respective railway lines and national railway operator. The national Belgian Railway Company is known as NMBS/SNCB. In Luxembourg the national railway company is the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL), whereas Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) is the main railway company of the Netherlands.

Cityscape

Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg are waiting for you! Taste a good beer sit on Brussel’s Grand Place square and admire the architecture. Have a wander around Amsterdam canals and test the well-known coffee shops. Don’t miss the deep gorge of Luxembourg. Enjoy your trip to Benelux going by train in any places you want.

Landscape

Windmills and tulip fields of Holland, Flanders’ battlefields or Ardennes’ mountains and forest is a little sample of what you can see in Benelux, travelling by train. Fascinating Red Rocks of Luxembourg’s landscapes, Belgium’s beaches where you can go surfing, and fields and lakes of Netherland are waiting for you!

Take Home

From Netherlands, you have to buy some Gouda or Edam cheeses which are very typical from there, while Luxembourg’s offers you excellent wines of the Moselle Valley. In Belgium, find the best chocolate factories in the world and try not to eat everything before coming back home, and don’t forget the waffles and beers!

Eat & Drink

Enjoy your trip to Benelux tasting the Bouneschlupp (soup) or the Ardennes’ ham in Luxembourg. In Amsterdam, try the raw herring or eel sandwiches. The world-known Dutch pancake is delightful as well.

New Perspective

Luxembourg’s Ardennes’ mountain, vineyards, hidden forests, typical and lovely little villages, vast open fields, you will be surprised of the variety of landscapes you can admire while you are travelling in Benelux by train.

  • All good. |
"Great on-board service. Train spot on time. Only problem is train platforms are not notified until 20 mins prior to departure. Was -2 and we couldn't board the train. "

    Paris to Stuttgart |
"We travelled to Stuttgart with no issues, it was comfortable, clean and convenient. These trains are fast especially as we don't have fast trains in Australia. The only thing was we didn't have much time for our connecting train. "

I’d use the trains again |
"This was our first experience with using the trains to travel in Europe. Pleasantly surprised how easy it was to do so. Travelled 2nd class and it was comfortable, relaxing, convenient and fast. I'd definately do this again. "

    Relaxing Journey |
"My family and I enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing train journey and would definitely travel this way again. "

  • Paris - Stuttgart  |
"the train trip was great, however I was travelling through to Munich from Stuttgart and we only had 8 minutes to get from platform 3 to platform 15 - when you have luggage in tow and there are crowds of people to get through - this IS NOT easy. That said the train was very comfortable and clean and the journey pleasant. "

    No seat allocation |
"Booking directly with rail companies allows the traveller to select seats. RailEurope do not provide this option and it's not possible to request seat allocation from the rail company after they have been booked by RailEurope. My partner suffers from motion sickness so this is an important consideration if we want to enjoy our holiday. Unfortunately we were facing backwards so we won't be taking this risk by booking with RailEurope in the future. Aix En Provence TGV is a fair way from Aix En Provence ville. "

"As above, not all possibilities were offered on the Australian website. Thus were not able to get a train direct to Frankfurt Airport. However, we were impressed by the prompt couriering of tickets to our door (next day). "
