The high speed red Thalys trains, owned by French, Belgium and German railways link some of Europe’s most fascinating cities.
For example, there are currently 11 trains a day between Paris, Brussels, Cologne, and Amsterdam. And since the summer of 2011 Düsseldorf, Duisburg and Essen were added to the German destinations.
Trains in Belgium have the added benefit of being connected to the airport so it is easy to start your journey once you land in Brussels. There is also a winter service on the Thalys trains running every Saturday between the end of December and the middle of April from Brussels and Antwerp directly to the ski resorts of Chambéry, Albertville, Moutiers, Aime-la-Plagne, Landry and Bourg-St-Maurice.
An amazing experience
Passengers travelling with Thalys can book tickets up to 90 days in advance for some of the best deals on train fares. Once you have your ticket, checking in is easy as you can do this on the Thalys train instead of waiting in queues at the station. Passport and ticket checks take place when you are relaxed in your seat, so you can avoid hanging around at the station.
Thalys trains offer two levels of service.
Comfort 1 has large relaxing seats and extra space to read the free international newspapers or relax with a book, as well as free wifi access and in-seat meals.
Comfort 2 offers comfortable seats, wifi at a charge, and a wide selection of refreshments from the Thalys Bar in carriages 4, 14 and 24. You can also buy tickets for public transport for the Netherlands, Brussels and Paris at the bar.
Remember children less than 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult when travelling with Thalys.
