Pass details

Unlimited travel on the French network: up to 9 consecutive or flexi days per month

Watch the landscape change from your glass window and relax by the train’s subtle chugging as it transports you through the magic of France.
The France Rail Pass is THE best way to discover France for non European residents. This pass provides unlimited travels on the French National Railways (SNCF) either in 1st Class or 2nd Class.

Who can get

Non European permanent residents from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and Turkey (for more than six months) are eligible to purchase or use a France Rail Pass.

How to use

Validation:

  • Passes must be validated within 6 months of issuing date by a railway official in France (station’s desk) who also fills in the passport number (outside promotion periods)
  • Passes must be validated prior to boarding 1st train or using a bonus. The date of travel has to be entered in the correct way before boarding the first train/bonus, by the traveller, in the corresponding box of the calendar

7:00pm rule:
The 7PM rule allows you to benefit from a free travel day. Make sure that the following conditions are respected:

  • Your pass should be activated
  • You should not have travelled by train prior to your boarding on the departure day
  • Board a night train after 7:00 pm
  • Arrive at your destination after 4:00 am on the next day
  • The arrival date should be within the validity of the pass

If the conditions are respected, then you only have to write the arrival date on your pass.
If the conditions are not respected, then you have to enter the departure and arrival dates on your pass.

How to activate your pass?

Before you board the train and travel with your rail pass, you need to activate or validate it at a train station. Railway staff will stamp your pass to show your first and last day of travel. All passes, whether Flexi or Regular, must be validated like this. France Rail Pass.

    "Ferreting around France"

Being somewhat at a loss without a car and using bikes I was well and truly out of my comfort zone. However the rail in France was so easy to use -you could actually place you your bike plus husband and travel The Loire in style.Later we travelled on to other sites ,staff were great and so helpful it made our journey memorable. As an older traveller I found it easy to navigate the beautiful regions and found the experience somewhat different from the 1960's when the budget was tight .The value for money was well and truly felt although sometimes one could not get the seats wanted.Had I been more organised this would not have been a problem. anyway thanks for the good times we had due to your great rail system pity, Australia can't do as well. The attitude of the people to their environment had also been seen and you could feel and see how they now cared for the whole not just the almighty dollar.    Comfort  Value for money  Convenience
