E-ticket refunds

  • "Print @ Home" tickets are tickets that have been issued by you, not by your travel agent. They have been printed by yourself, on a regular A4 paper, after having received an email on your email address with a link to an electronic document.

Refundmyeticket’s functionalities are only offered to "Print @ Home" tickets.

  • There are several types of tickets to travel in Europe. Besides "Print @ Home" tickets, there are paper tickets (printed on a special paper by your travel agent) or "Ticket on Departure" tickets (also known as "TOD").

Refundmyeticket’s functionalities are only offered for "Print @ Home" tickets, not to paper tickets nor to TOD tickets.
If you have paper/TOD tickets and want to refund them (should the fare allow it), you need to :

    • 1. Go to a ticket office at the station or to railway official.
    • 2. Ask them to release your seat.
    • 3. And to stamp/endorse your ticket as not used and give it back to you.
    • 4. Upon return in your country and in the timeframe allowed by the fare, you’ll need to send the original of your tickets to the issuing office, which will process the refund for you.

  • Fare conditions: Refund is subject to the conditions of the fare you purchased. Some fares are non-refundable, some are fully refundable, some others are refundable under certain conditions, etc. Please always check the conditions that apply in your case.
Refund fees: For refundable fares, please note that, in some cases, a penalty fee may apply. Fee policy depends on the commercial policy of the point of sales who issued the tickets. Please check with the original point of sales the exact conditions.

  • In all cases, you just need to contact the original point of sales, which issued your tickets: travel agent, travel management company, website, etc. For tickets purchased directly on Rail Europe websites, just go the "contact us" section and fill-out the form.

  • In all cases, a refund happens in 2 simple steps:
    • 1. You must release the seat BEFORE train departure (you can do this operation from this website)
    • 2. Upon return in your country, contact the original point of sales to get the refund amount transferred on to your bank account.
Remember to keep all original of your paper tickets with you, they will be necessary to finalise the refund (except for "Print @ Home" tickets)

  • By helping you releasing seats in real time, Refundmyeticket allows you to apply for a refund even when you release your seat at the last minute (depending on the conditions of the fare).

Refundmyeticket allows you to initiate a refund request for the most widely used train tickets in Europe:

    •  French domestic long distance trains and TGV high speed trains in particular

    •  Eurostar trains (London-Paris-Brussels)

    •  Thalys trains (France-Belgium-Netherlands-Germany)
