The best way to get around Romania is by train, as the stations are usually no further than 10km from any village. From Brasov in Transylvania take a 2½-hour trip on the Intercity Express train, to the colourful and worldly capital Bucharest. Here you’ll find an eclectic music scene and a mixture of medieval, neoclassical and art nouveau buildings. As well as the Gara de Nord Bucureşti train station, which has excellent connections with the rest of Romania.
