Reviews & ratings Beziers - Paris
We were on the upper deck of this double decker train. And the view was to die for. A fantastic way to see the countryside. We were told how the carriages worked by a fellow traveller so knew where to stand on the station to get onto the train (trains only stop at stations for a very short time) before it left. There needs to be signs in English, or someone to help foreigners!
I booked the tickets online before leaving Australia. Tried to book 11 tickets but kept getting an error message which didn't really define the nature of the problem. Eventually figured out that it didn't like me booking that many so booked 6 then had to get my sister to book the other 5. Would have liked them to be together but were in different coaches, although there were empty seats near mine. The trip itself was great. Very comfortable and pleasant way to travel. Struggled with the stairs at Beziers with all our luggage . Liked the announcements of next stops - travelled on Italian train from Florence to Perugia and had to guess when our stop would be.
No-one coming around to sell drinks and food or give free
Disappointing that the train was delayed by 45 minutes due to an issue at Nimes. The range of food available on the train was not as extensive as as provided on other train services (such as Barcelona to Montpellier).
First class travel on the TGV was excellent. Travelling at speed along the Mediterranean coast and through the French countryside was a wonderful experience. The seats were very comfortable and there was plenty of room for luggage. The carriage was very quiet and the train was on time. I highly recommend this form of travel and booking online from Australia was seamless.
