Reviews & ratings Brussels - London
We travelled by train from Brussells to London. The trip was comfortable and quick. We were able to book our tickets from Australia and print those tickets before we left. We had no problems at all and would recommend this method of travel to anybody wanting to go from Europe to England.
We had a very enjoyable trip. The food and drinks from the canteen were fresh and tasty. All Eurostar personnel were professional and polite.
Very comfortable and relaxing experience. Meal and wine was very good. Enjoyed the experience. Only issue was the cost - much cheaper to fly back to Europe.
After a pleasant breakfast at the delightful St. Pancras station, we checked in with our pre purchased tickets in Australia with ease and efficiency, and boarded the punctual Eurostar for our comfortable and scenic trip from London to Brussels. As it was a 9am journey of only a 2 1/2 hour duration, we did not need to use the dining car.
Great way to travel, so convenient and comfortable.
The only negative was not being given a choice about seating, or even being told in advance what sort of seat was allocated. That was all left to chance, though it turned out quite OK.
Rail Europe web site makes it so easy to DIY. The service is great and the allocated seating arrangemts were perfect. The four of us enjoyed the experience immensely.
Hard to fault the convenience of travelling form city centre to city centre at speed. Eurostar were very helpful. However, booking with the Australian company does not allow you to select seats, yet booking direct with Eurostar does. I was able to change my seats to get a forward facing seat by emailing Eurostar direct. The only limitation we found on the train was the lack of luggage space and the resulting need to lift our luggage on to racks above the seats.
After a long trip around Europe we really looked forward to this leg. All good except it is important to know that buying First Class doesn't get you all the perks. For example, the lounge in Brussels is only available to "Business Class", which is another class above "First Class", so just be aware of what you are buying. Otherwise everything was good and the facilities were excellent.
I am a Eurostar fan. What can I say? The central city departure and arrival points just make it easy. If you book early and get a good deal, it can't be beaten. (I did miss the departure time on a previous trip due to my own misreading the ticket and had to pay a fortune for a replacement). The on board buffet is convenient but with only one person serving often can be very slow. They are clearly under the pump with a queue of passengers and it does seem a little unfair on them. But I will only use the Eurostar for UK to Europe connections. Planes, I can't be bothered.
I booked a window seat online, and was miffed to find I had been given an aisle seat. A visit to Europe is special to me, and I like to look out the window on train trips, take in the scenery. As it happened the window seat next to me was a 'panel between windows' seat. Also annoyed I couldn't take a train all the way to Rotterdam. Not enough space for luggage.
It could be a bit easier to find the departure gate/platform. The train itself was nothing special, and it would be better if all the seats actually faced the direction of travel, we were allocation two seats for a couple which was good, would be better if we could choose the seats ourselves.
Loved the fact that I could book this trip online prior to leaving Australia. I was a bit nervous about the bookings seeing as I had done them well in advance and in another country but all went as smoothly as one could hope. i would recommend Eurostar to anyone i know.
Convenient location easy to get to on the tube. Nice scenery.
My trip to Amsterdam from London was exceptional. The train was clean, comfortable, and stress free. I highly recommend travelling with Thalys for value and service.
