Reviews & ratings Hendaye - Paris
A great way to travel from San Sebastian to Paris. The train was well maintained and comfortable. The French trains are great, and it is a brilliant way to see the country side. Much better than our overnight train from Lisbon to San Sebastian, which although we booked a first class sleeper, felt second class at best. We still had fun traveling overnight with the children (8 and 10), who had not experienced an overnight sleeper train before, but don't expect too much.
My trip was comfortable, trouble free and safe. Although the trip is over 6 hours it was still pleasant and when I wanted to sleep was not troubled by noise or other passengers. A good trip which I would be happy to do again.
We both enjoyed our train journey from Hendaye to Paris Montparnasse. The seats (first class) were comfortable and we had enough room to stretch out occasionally. We were both amazed that one of the passengers had a little dog which was perfectly well behaved and no trouble at all, but wow! That certainly wouldn't happen in Australia! Well done Rail Europe!
As always I tell everyone, its just a great way to travel. It beats flying any day and its just as quick, a lot more comfortable and cheaper!
I travelled on a day of SNCF strike. My morning train was cancelled and I had to wait until the evening train. This meant I had a 10 hour wait. SNCF provided customer service officers at Hendaye to explain situation and advise of options. When I boarded the evening train I had no allocated seat so at every stop as new passengers got on board we all had to readjust whichever seat we were occupying. Most passengers were philosophical about this. Staff were helpful under the circumstances and the train travelled to schedule.
Good service, quiet, smooth train. The only negative on our first class seats was that we were seated opposite another couple. I am a tall man and there was little room to stretch my legs.I had to leave my seat regularly to reduce stiffness. The Spanish first class seats were better - more room, more privacy.
Very comfortable journey. Fast and efficient . Only fault we were sitting in the wrong carriage , and wasn't picked up by guard , only when train filled up and the passenger had ticket for the seat, how embarrassing . Would rate it 4 star over all
