Reviews & ratings Lausanne - Paris
We travelled to Lausanne on TGV Lyria on 30/8/2015. The train was fast, comfortable and there were no real hassles apart from not being able to find our carriage. After walking up and down a few times, the conductor allowed us to sit where we were. Carriage numbers only showed on the board in some carriages, and only when the train was moving, not in the station. Minor detail.
I found the everything about the TGV well run, friendly and efficient. I had a first class ticket. It was a great travelling experience and I would definitely recommend it to future travellers. I
I arranged all my bookings before leaving Australia on the inter net and all went perfectly well. All on time and very comfortable.
The seats we were allocated by Rail Europe had no view. We looked onto the metal train structure for 4 hours, rather boring. The Train interior was very grubby and had not be cleaned thoroughly for a long time. There were coffee stains and dirty marks on very thing and the toilets were putrid.Hate to think what second class was like. Finally, Gare de Lyon is very difficult to negotiate with luggage and the poor condition of the station does not help.
Easy departure from Gare de Lyon. Room for luggage and seats were comfortable. No problems.
A wonderful journey in great comfort. So much better than air travel - arrive at the station in the centre of Paris only 15 minutes before departure, no queues, just straight into a very comfortable carriage. Even provided with a full meal and drinks at our seats by hostesses as if in an airplane! I would definitely recommend travelling 1st class on TGV Lyria and will certainly travel this way next time I'm in Europe rather than bother with airports and queues.
Train Travel in Europe is usually excellent. This trip was disappointing...seating in a small compartment at the end of the train....very hot and uncomfortable....windows in halves so that one could not see the view whether sitting or standing....very disappointing
Duplex carriage had no room for luggage downstairs
Both seat (again) facing backwards)
Train was comfortable and on time. Only small gripe is that the coffee is ho hum and the black tea was Earl Grey - the only tea I loathe. I just needed a good cup of ordinary tea which was not available. I am sure you can easily fix this.
