Reviews & ratings Lille - Paris
Accidently entered the 1st class carriageand realised there is no difference between 1st and 2nd class on this trip. Glad I didnt pay the extra money. I realise that this is a French speaking country and I shouldnt expect people to speak my language although when a country makes so much money from tourism, they could at least make the effirt to have English speaking staff at major tourist places such as a rail station at an international airport.
Train was clean, trip was quick and comfortable. Thank you
I booked tickets on-line in Australia and received a confirmation email with instructions on how to print tickets at the station. TAKE CARE - the booking reference number (printed in BIG BOLD TEXT) on the email is NOT the number you need to retrieve your tickets. This is printed in tiny text half way down the email. It was only by chance I was able to get a wifi connection at the station, retrieve the email and find the code. Other than that the trip was very good - First class tickets cheaper than standard. Strange but true - that's the French for you :)
Unfortunately the trip Antwerp to Lille was a bit of a nightmare - no bookings possible for seats, no luggage space and terribly overcrowded. Would not take this train again
We had booked tickets and therefore had to wait in a very crosded station. We would have been better just to have bought tickets when we got there. This option should be clear to people booking. Train was fine
The TGV is a fast, comfortable and convenient way to travel from Lille to Paris. The TGV as on-time and very clean. Take care when printing the e-ticket as the car number can be overtyped with the seat number making it extremely difficult to read. Try to avoid seats facing each other with a table in between as there is limited leg room. Please note that notification of the departing platform number may not be displayed till 10 to 15 minutes prior to the departure time.
We had the tickets, but I was concerned that I had to do more with them, get them stamped or something, but information told me I was good to just board and use them. With these trains, you just wait in the area near the platforms (voies) and wait until the boards show which one your train will board from. Then there is a mad rush as everyone heads down a platform and onto a train. If you're coach 12, that can be a long way down the platform. Good smooth travel, quiet and fast.
High speed rail all the way, an experience that should not be missed. Book seats if using Eurail as a supplement is payable and be aware of platform allocations in France as these often occur 15 or 20 minutes before the train is due to leave. Luxury high speed train travel at its best.
As this was the first time we travelled with TGV we had no idea of what to expect. First we were not sure which car we were to travel in and had to ask. As we were international travellers with two large and two small bags and we had problems getting on to and off the train. There is only limited storage space at the end of the carriage and other travellers saw fit to move our bags around. On our Lille Flanders to Paris trip we had limited foot space as the people sitting opposite chose to spreed right out. We still enjoyed the experience.
The train was clean and comfort was good. Plenty of room to store our large bags. Station was being worked on so not much seating while waiting to board. On time and easy way to travel. We did this trip on a Saturday and the return trip on a Thursday for about half the price of the Saturday trip? The Thursday train had a lot more people aboard.
We recently took the TGV from Charles De Gaulle Airport. I booked online
Delightful fast trip, staff excellent and very helpful, journey was fast and comfortable with delightful light breakfast served. Would use rail service again with out hesitation.
Rail Europe is a great easy way to book your rail tickets throughout Europe. You can either print your tickets at home or when your at the railway station - saves time so there's no waiting in line to buy tickets at the station.
The Train ride was enjoyable until we were told there was track work and would have to get off at the next station and walk to the metro line to then continue our journey. Trackwork is always planned and it would have been good if there was more noticed so contecting trains weren't missed
A fast, comfortable and on-time rail service. A very pleasant way to travel across France.
