Reviews & ratings Milan - Geneva
We wanted this travel leg of our trip for the scenery - and it didn't disappoint. Every part of the trip was beautiful, vines on the hill sides, mountain views etc. The ticket was delivered well before we left Australia, the train was on time (as usual). Everything was great
Lovely relaxing train ride with good service. Perfect way to travel. Great views, nice lunch and arrived to our destination on time!
Train travel in Europe was excellent. Zurich/Arosa/Zurich. Then, Zurich, Milano, Geneva, Lyon, Dijon, Paris, London. Trains in Switzerland even had phone/lap top chargers available at each seat. Just one minor disappointment; one of my seats was in a spot in the carriage where there was no window. Sometimes the train was high above the platform but I never had difficulty finding someone to help lift my heavy suitcase.
Although we booked well in advance, my husband and I were allocated one window seat and one aisle seat on the other side of the aisle. Another couple were allocated the remaining aisle seat (next to me) and window seat (next to my husband). I can't understand how this could have happened. Surely if one couple booked before the other, they would automatically be given two seats together, with the remaining two seats together available for the other couple. Of course we swapped seats as soon as we realised what had happened, but it makes me wonder how many other couples and families had been given split seating that couldn't be easily fixed. Why doesn't the booking system automatically allocate seats together if they are available?
It was easy to find the right platform in Milan station -well sign posted. Our seats were comfortable and the train left right on time. No hassles with security checks or baggage allowance. The views from the train were wonderful. It was so easy getting up and having a walk to the food carriage.
Travelling in Europe is made easier by train, rail europe offer an excellent service with comfortable trains, and high standard of customer service - well done
Trains are excellent and well priced! Tourists please be aware of persons being nice and helping you with your luggage at this train station. Even police on the platforms seem to turn an blind eye to the scams happening on the platforms. These persons will grab your bags like they are helping you and then expect money in return. They are very intimidating and pushy.
We booked our tickets from Milan to geneva in australia a month earlier at avery good price. We also had the option of flying, but decided on the train trip as we could see the swiss country side. The train was excellent very smoothe and we did not feel the trip, there is a mobile drink service on the train if required,no problem with the excess luggage.
Seats were cramped and showing signs of age.
I had a very good journey and I paid a very good price for it!
Great Trip, really enjoyed the scenery. The only problem we encountered was my friend was not able to use her return ticket as she had to return to Geneva early. As our party of three were all listed on the one ticket we were not able to cancel or transfer the travel date for one person. I would advise other groups travelling together to request separate travel vouchers for each individual.
