Reviews & ratings Milan - Zurich
This train was really nice and clean as well as comfortable with more room than most and a beautiful trip through the mountains. It took us right where we want to go and didn't take way too long.
My wife and I had a wonderful honey moon in European countries. We traveled through Germany, Italy, Switzerland and France by Global Pass, which was really handy. All the trains we abroad were perfectly linked and operated on time. The first class services were very good and the pass also covers some boat tickets as well. The mountain and lake views from Milan to Zurich were fascinating and the bullet train was very comfortable. I may suggest that you'd better to plan your rail trip in advance, e.g. check train timetables and links using "Plan you trip" on RailEuro website.
As the train was late arriving in Milano, we missed our train to Venice, so purchased another ticket on the next train.
This particular train was not the most comfortable one I have travelled in - the immovable table in the middle of the 4-seat block made getting in and out awkward. The lack of sufficient baggage space was annoying and the fact that we were late in arriving at Milano and subsequently missed our connecting train was equally annoying!
I was so pleased we had booked seats on this train, as we could watch as scores of irate travellers tried to find a spot, as their train had been cancelled, and were trying to get on this train. People were yelling and jumping into seats, getting settled and then having to move because people with bookings arrived. Then, they all were on their phones telling/yelling their contacts what was happening. as the trip went further along, things calmed down.\Expect the unexpected on Italian trains. I would recommend first class on this train, as we were on second class, but there was not enough room in the luggage racks for anything bigger than a small backpack. The trip through the mountains was spectacular. we were able to spend about three hours in Zurich, and that seemed to be enough!
We loved the train trip, its the best way to travel to see the country side. We booked on line and tickets arrived before we set off to Europe and once we got used to the system all went well. We had one concern though, there are some people that present as helpful individuals when you get on the train, but infact they are only after your money. After helping you with your bags they demand payment before letting you bags go. Be aware and your trip will be great.
I loved the first class train. WAY more spacious than the aeroplane. My only gripe is that I think you should at least get a sandwich in first class and a water. Otherwise, excellent !!!
Our first class train from Milan to Zurich was less than ideal. No toilets for a fair portion of the trip, very old cabin and oil stains on my jacket from the luggage shelf. Really not up to scratch for a first class ticket! Some excellent views along the way, although the luggage rack on one side of the train completely blocked our view on one side of the train.
Comfortable and convenient trip. Onboard staff were friendly and helpful.
Spectacular scenery from a highly comfortable environment.
