Train was on time - easy to use
I love traveling through Europe by train. It beats any other form of travel. You don't have the stress of getting stuck in traffic if you hire a car and the added worry of road rules and the risk of traffic accidents and directions. On the train with Rail Europe, you just sit back and relax and enjoy the view of the European countryside. Thanks Rail Europe, you did a great job in dispensing the tickets to my house in a very short time, three days.
I would urge all travelers to firstly consider train as the main way to travel throughout Europe and the UK. 1st class travel ensures a seat and personal service for a few more dollars and it's well worth it.
we took the train from La Spezia to Nice and whilst the train was 15 minutes late departing, we appeared to make up some time and had no trouble connecting in Genoa for our train to Ventimiglia. This train was crowded but managed to find seats and were able to stow our suitcases. Would have been nice if we could book seats but not possible. The train from Ventimiglia to Nice was jammed pack and it was first in first served, as a result had to stand or lean on suitcase. Thank goodness this was a short journey!
This 1 hour trip was a great way to see the countryside near the sea which would otherwise be missed if we were driving. At the time of trave (Mid April), there was no problem finding a seat and there was plenty of room nearby for our luggage to be monitored. Much more relaxing than driving, but change of trains at Ventamiglia initially felt as if it would be rushed, but the 15 minutes or so was quite a comfortable timeframe.
The train was very full so there wasn't a lot of room for our luggage. A lot of people had to stand but we were lucky enough to get a seat.
