Reviews & ratings Paris - Avignon
Travel by TVG was fantastic. Fast and beautiful country side. 1st Class is the best!
We were travelling from Interlaken in Switzerland to Dijon and from Basel to Dijon was via TGV with compulsory reservation. The reservation from Basel to Dijon was so high I tried catching a regional train to the next stop Mulhouse and booking the reservation from there to Dijon. This worked but required an extra connection...very inconvient. The TGV was also very late and old seats and we were in 1st Class.
great way of getting to your destination, the seats were very comfortable, carriage nice and quiet and the train was on time.
We thought the seating was more comfortable than our journey on Thalys, We bad comments at all with TGV. Would definitely use TGV agin.
I was extremely pleased to complete this trip by TGV in a comfortable seat on a train that ran to schedule. On the day of travel I had to change my itinerary from starting my trip from Marseille to Avignon but was still permitted by the ticket office to do this easily, using the same ticket. Booking my ticket on-line also saved me from having to have my ticket validated by machine before commencing my journey. I was very happy with this result and would not hesitate to book with your company for my next european train trips. Thankyou very much
Travel bt TGV was quick, convenient and comfortable. Access to Wi-Fi would make it perfect!
The TGV from Paris to Avignon was an excellent choice. Good value, comfortable seats, nice views during the passage and very convenient. You would hardly know you were travelling as fast as we were.
How quick, easy and comfortable! Why would you travel any other way?
An excellent means of travelling around France and cheap as well. Facilities are firts class and despite some apprehension baggage space was adequate. The booking process was straightforward although it is important to read the detail on each page on the website.
Clean Fast Comfortable Cost Effective
family journey was very easy. Train punctual and good seating. no complaints
We took six train trips in September 2013, a mixture of first and second class tickets. The train journeys were very enjoyable. It was far less stressful than driving while following GPS directions and watching for road signs in French. The only negatives were the last minute posting of the platform number for the train and the confusing order of the carriages. Sometimes the carriage number signs on the carriages did not match the signs on the platform display. Both these contribute to a free-for-all rush carrying luggage up and down stairs.
This was an urgent trip to return to London during our French holiday. Therefore tickets were booked late and second class. The train was very crowded and we had difficulty finding space for our luggage, then crammed into seats facing other passengers. Leg room was definitely a problem, but as it was only a couple of hours we endured it. It was on time and that was important for us.
I loved travelling on the TGV, it was fast and ran to schedule. The biggest problem was locating the correct platform at Gare de Lyon, however the TGV staff were very helpful and forgiving of my attempts to speak French! The train trip gave us a couple of hours to relax and enjoy the scenery rushing by. We were considering driving down south from Paris, I think in retrospect it was a great option to take the TGV and collect our car at the other end.
On time, great value in 2nd class. Avignon is a great place to make a base from.
