Reviews & ratings Paris - Cologne
I was travelling 2nd class from Paris to Cologne and the trip was great, except for one thing. I was travelling 2nd class, and when I found the start of those carriages on the platform, the guard at the first door told me I could get on and sit anywhere as it wasn't actually a Thalys train. Fortunately the ticket inspector on route took better notice of my ticket and informed me that the section of the train I was on wasn't going any further than Brussels, and that in fact I should have got onto the train further along which was the one going through to Cologne. How was I to know there were actually two trains? Fortunately when both the trains pulled into Brussels together I was able to sprint up the platform and get onto the right one. SO the lesson is, make sure you are on the right carriage number written on your ticket, and don't rely on the platform staff.
Was a great way to get to Cologne from Paris, very fast, comfortable and great value.
We travelled from Paris to Cologne, the tickets where easy to book from Australia online, The train was comfortable and fast with food and drinks available onboard, staff where helpfull, and plenty of multi language information announcements.
It was over crowded in our carriage. With that, we had little room to store our 2 family size luggage. To improve our experience, we would've appreciate more room for storage for all.
Convenient and comfortable train. However the train was very full and there was limited space for large luggage and it was located in an area you couldn't keep an eye on. Staff not very helpful and brusque. lovely way to relax and see the country side. We had no problems using Rail Europe and it was an easy process and the service we received was excellent - thank you!
Very convenient overall. Staff at the Hamburg train station were very helpful but from a traveller with luggage perspective it would have been helpful to have had one of the escalators going down instead of both going up! If it wasn't for the help of a very kind young man this may have resulted in disaster as I nearly fell down the steps. Train was very clean and comfortable, plenty of space for luggage (but the train wasn't full). A lovely relaxing trip and a great way to see the country side.
