Reviews & ratings Paris - Milan
Once on board it was sit back and enjoy both inside and outside action. This experience was well worth every dollar spent. Comfort, value and convenience all up there with the best.
A wonderful and relaxing trip through the alps from Milan to paris that gave us an opportunity to see more of the spectacular scenery in the region whilst still getting us into Paris in good time without all the hassles of arriving in CDG.
A daytime treat for travelers. Simple and convenient transport from City center to center. Adequate food in First carriage, and availability of a bar carriage. Stowage of luggage is always a problem so if travelling with suitcases, get there early!
Our family of 4 chose 1st class for this leg of our journey as it was longer than others. We booked early so we could get the centre seats facing eachother which was worth it. The trip was very smooth although there were some odd and unexplained police stops along the way which made us late by about 30 minutes. One element that was confusing was transferring from the domestic Gare De Lyon station to the international area...took us a while and a few wrong turns to find the right place but we had planned for some stuff-ups so still had plenty of time.
A very comfortable and enjoyable train journey. The train was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. An excellent way to appreciate the picturesque scenery that the train passes through.
We chose to take the Train from Milan to Paris mostly for comfort and to once again enjoy the scenery. We had been in Northern Italy (Bellagio) and needed to be in Paris. The ease comfort and pleasure of the trip was unparalleled. There was plenty of time to get on and get settled. The car and seats were comfortable. Being able to order Gluten Free food would have made things better.
Our trip from Milan to Paris by first class seats on the train was great. It was great value for money and the seats comfortable. The scenery along the way was spectacular, making the journey even more enjoyable. Would recommend this to everyone.
We had booked from 'Venice to Paris which came up as two legs of a single journey. The difficulty we had was that the booking agent had booked us from Mestre instead of S.Lucia station. While only a minor problem which was easily sorted we did have a few anxious moments not knowing whether we would have to leave earlier and catch a 10 minute ride from S Lucia to Mestre. As it turned out, on advice from our hotel concierge, we talked to the information officer at S. Lucia and was able to board the train there for no extra cost. (Our seats had not been taken). The other leg of our journey was from Milan to Paris with a change of station in Milan. Not a great problem but if we hadn't read the ticket before hand we may have been ignorant of the fact that we had to go the short journey from Milano Centrale to Milano Garibaldi stations. A note when issuing the ticket alerting us to this would have been helpful. That aside, the trip was comfortable and the scenery was stunning. We were happy we took this option.
Perfect trip. Great staff. Easy booking online...booked three months prior so got a great price. Impressed with quality of train...comfortable seats and also nice views as we travelled from Milan to Paris.
Train travel in Europe was excellent. Zurich/Arosa/Zurich. Then, Zurich, Milano, Geneva, Lyon, Dijon, Paris, London. Trains in Switzerland even had phone/lap top chargers available at each seat. Just one minor disappointment; one of my seats was in a spot in the carriage where there was no window. Sometimes the train was high above the platform but I never had difficulty finding someone to help lift my heavy suitcase.
Arriving at the Milano Garibaldi station was uncomplicated and it is so easy to find details of your departure on the Indicator board! The train was on time ( as were all the raileurope trains we used ). The scenery through the mountain valley was stunning and relaxing with a glass of bubbly was a fitting finale to three months in Europe. The only issue we had was that the train terminated in Paris Gare Lyon and when we booked online at home in Australia we thought we were to be on a train direct to the aiport. No matter, we took a taxi and enjoyed apleasant evening at an airport hotel before flying out the next morning, sad but happy.
Very interesting trip, through some spectacular Alps scenery, with only a handful of stops. However, the railcar we were in was rather grubby, and my wife described the toilet as "disgusting". Overall though, an economical trip which afforded an excellent opportunity to check out the scenery.
Excellent relaxing trip
The convenience and comfort of train travel was demonstrated by our recent choice of TGV Paris to Milan. Avoiding all the hassle associated with airport travel and the extra time wasted waiting for international flights was eliminated by travel on the TGV. It left and arrived on time. The attendant in the carriage was extremely helpful and accommodating. The only complaint I would have was the lack of choice for the meals, a greater choice would have been appreciated, the risotto was lovely but the pizza unfortunate.
Train ride was great... a better selection of foods on a long journey would be better. No luggage compartments... need more space for luggage!!
