Reviews & ratings Paris - Nice
We travelled by train through Europe and when we got to Zurich airport to leave to return home via the airlines we overheard a gentleman say to his family that their plane from Zurich to London had been cancelled. Not only did they get to the airport for the 2 hours approx early to checkin but then had to wait because their plane was delayed and they would have had to clear customs the other end anyway! I really wanted to ask him why he didn't but a train ticket to Paris and get on the Eurostar to London. Not only would he had to have been at the train station just at the time the train left but he could have made the connection by looking up train times and arrivals and rebooking before he even left home and printed out his tickets. It's all too easy. Big deal you have to lift your luggage on and off the train. I have no regrets of using the train.
The train was on time, clean - everything you would expect. The only potential improvement would be to make all announcements in English as well as French. This was done for some but not all. Otherwise - excellent.
The trip was on time clean comfortable and value for money
Easy to book from overseas , comfortable, easy to use, great service. Only areas that could be improved- escalators at stations and enough time for platform allocation at the station.
we had a great journey from paris to Nice, what a way to travel through central France the train left and arrived on time. the dining car was clean and reasonable, with great views while eating.the staff were helpful although our French was not but we had fun trying.we have always wanted do do this trip now we have great.
We had the tickets, but I was concerned that I had to do more with them, get them stamped or something, but information told me I was good to just board and use them. With these trains, you just wait in the area near the platforms (voies) and wait until the boards show which one your train will board from. Then there is a mad rush as everyone heads down a platform and onto a train. If you're coach 12, that can be a long way down the platform. Good smooth travel, quiet and fast.
I was peasantly surprised as to how cheap the fare from Nice to Paris was for first class. The train ran on time which was great. Just a word of warning for solo travellers or those with a disability there are no escalators or lifts in most French stations.
Loved it-so comfortable and more convient then plane- great. service- loved the paoerbags to carry wonderful food back to seat-made great friends on journey, One of the top memories of my trip
We actually booked a trip from London to Nice. Unfortunately it was not entirely clear we had to change stations in Paris. It would have been beneficial to highlight this as part of the booking - in fact a prompt to indicate the amount of time it takes to get between stations would have been very handy. The actual trip was quite comfortable.
We travelled first class from Paris to Nice, highly recommend it. The countryside was gorgeous, exactly what I expected, an effortless journey.
What a shame the TGV is not a better service. While the train is adequate, it is a bit grubby, lacks enough storage for luggage and only had a tiny food carriage that couldn't accommodate paying by card. (We are international travellers) The fact that so many people cart their pets around on it is a little disconcerting as well! Perhaps people with pets should be booked in dedicated carriages so as not to upset people who suffer from allergies or just don't want to travel with animals?
The train was comfortable and clean. It was a convenient way to travel.
This is a great way to travel and see the countryside as you traces from one country to the next. We travelled from Paris to Nice then changed trains to travel to Italy and the scenery was fantastic! The train was comfortable and the trip a smooth ride.
We were very happy with our train travel around France.
