Reviews & ratings Salzburg - Vienna
The only complaint that I have concerns another passenger who refused to vacate my reserved seat until other German speaking passengers intervened. The conductor was not patrolling the coaches and I was unable to complain to him.
Train was comfortable, and very punctual! Much better than catching a plane as you don't have to check in or having to arrive at the terminal at a specific time so long you're on board before the departure time! The only recommendation would be to include a map for tourist as to which terminal in certain cities.
The trip was very comfortable
The seats were comfortable, there was adequate luggage space and large windows enabled a good view of the countryside. Information screens in each carriage were helpful.
Excellent journey. Wonderful trip.Great service.A lot of young Music Festival trippers were also on board and it was a little noisy having them sit in front of us playing their music. They also pushed another elderly traveller out of his seat so they could sit together, when he had left his seat. If a Rail staff member was more visible then this may not have happened. They were no problem just noisy for a great part of the trip.
Did a lot of travelling around Germany, Czech Republic, and Austria using the various Rail options. On the whole found the train experiences to be convenient - although ensuring you pack lightly is probably a bit recommendation, as there is limited space between seats or above seats for long-distance (ie from Australia) travellers!
Seats were fine as expected, but approx halfway there was a mechanical problem with the brakes, necessitating the second half of the train to be left behind and all passengers to move to the first half. As the train was not at a platform, many passengers experienced difficulty descending to the ground, particularly with luggage, walking along the tracks and climbing back up again. The first half of the train was consequently very crowded, first class was full of people, many standing and there were very few seats left in second class. Arrival in Salzburg was 1hr 15min late, cutting into the time we had available considerably. Obviously not much else could have been done, but it made the journey uncomfortable and late.
Very efficient, on time and comfortable
Travelled from Vienna to Salzburg via rail and was overall very impressed with the service, both from a point of view from the time we were assisted boarding this train, until the completion of our journey. It was all very professional and a relaxing experience.
We enjoyed the ease, comfort and convenience of traveling this journey by train. The train was on time to the second! Having a fresh coffee was great and the WiFi a unexpected bonus!
This was a convenient connection from our Amsterdam to Duesseldorf trip that morning. It allowed us to travel from Amsterdam through to Wuerzburg in the one day. We were able to arrive at the HBF in the middle of the town and only a few blocks to our hotel. This allowed us to refresh overnight to commence our road journey with Touring - Romantic Road Coach the next morning for a week long hop on, hop off trip through the Romantic Road from Wuerzburg down through to Neuschwanstein Castle near Fussen.
