Travel inspiration in Venice and Munich
Venice is a unique experience for every traveller and certainly a must for lovers. Few people know that Venice is actually an island-city with a train bridge connecting it to mainland Italy. This romantic city actually has no roads at all! To move around there are 150 canals and over 400 bridges! Venice has also beautiful churches, squares and museums. The southern part of the Venice has a certain village feel. Perfect to wander around in the little alleys, get lost and finally reach the Santa Margherita square. Ideal place for its lively bars!
Munich is one of the most popular destination in Europe and Germany. The city is the capital of the Bavaria state. Munich is world known for its beer and the famous Oktoberfest. Home to the BMW Welt and the FC Bayern, Munich is a city with something for everyone! More than that, Munich is an important centre for art, culture and international affairs. The city is clean, safe and has an efficient transport system. Being an open and joyful city, Munich is a leisure paradise with a splendid view over the alps. Munich is easily reached by train from Paris, Berlin and Zurich.
Reviews & ratings Venice - Munich
I bought 5 couchettes as soon as they became available and it was very economical. It was mainly for the sake of my 2 young sons to experience sleeping on the train. The train was fast and safe but I found the couchette almost claustrophobic in the middle row as one cannot sit up. It was quite hot and stuffy and it had been snowing when we boarded the train so I found the temperature change uncomfortable. Although I slept on and off I would buy a sit up seat next time and although it saves a night's accommodation, one misses the beautiful views
I did make a reservation luckily, as when I boarded there was someone in my seat. The person moved without issue however if you don't reserve a seat and the train is packed, expect to stand for the duration of the trip.
The train trip itself was quite comfortable, unfortunately this leg of my trip ran 90 minutes over schedule causing me to miss my connecting train. Ensure you leave at least 2 hours between connections as the trains are notorious for running late.
Really enjoyable experience, depart Munich and awake in Venice. Bunk beds were comfortable, carriage warm and given that we were on a train relatively quiet. We had a good nights sleep, a continental breakfast and a stress free trip all the way to Venice. Thank you !!!!
When I go back to Europe next I will definitely be travelling by train. We travelled from Venice to Munich 7 hours just flew by. So easy take your luggage on board no waiting at airport luggage carousels and the station was right next to my hotel. The restaurant was very reasonably priced and good selection. Views were amazing loved travelling by train.
7 hours on a train through northern Italy and Austria to Munich was great. Big windows, comfortable seating and plenty of space made the journey enjoyable. Dining car had a great choice of meals and staff were terrific. Scenery was wonderful and train quiet and smooth!
For an overnight train ride this is a pretty good way to get from Venice to Munich. The train and first class cabin are prretty good, however the food is not verry good. The ride isnt too bad because there arent no station stops between Venice and Munich, however the train stops at single rail bridges.
I found this a pleasant, scenic and convenient way to travel between Venezia S.Lucia Stn and Munich HBF. Unfortunately it wasn't an ICE so there were numerous stops along the way in Italy, Austria and Germany, but on the whole quite relaxing.
We had no idea what to expect and were presently surprised. Breakfast was included but was terrible.
Had a good trip for a good value. To bad it was quite a long and tiring one.
