Reviews & ratings Zurich - Paris
Not the comfiest train but definitely reasonable and a great price. Love the free drinks and snacks on the train and very nice staff.
As a family of 5, it was a nice change travelling by train and I was keen to experience Euopean train travel. Overall it was fantastic, and we would absolutely travel by train again. The particular trip we had to Paris was on a train that looked a little tired - maybe we were spolied by the Italian trains which were excellent. However, we enjoyed it and the seats were roomy and comfortable, the general cleaniliness of the train also good - and the trip seemed amazingly fast. We would absolutely repeat the trip next time.
Very good trip, 6am departure so not many people travelling. We were in 1st class which is worth paying the small amount extra for. The only criticism I would have is that ramps instead of stairs would make getting suitcases onboard a lot easier!!
We travelled First Class The train ride was very comfortable
For overseas travellers, LARGE signs advising to put rail tix into machine before boarding would be helpful. At Paris the ticket office does not open till after 6am so if your trip starts at that time, there are no directions to machines which can print seat allocation. Otherwise, trip was good.
One of the great train trips, the TGV trains are incredibly fast and luxurious. Seats do need to be booked as a supplement is payable for using the TGV's on Eurail. These trains are very long and first class is usually at one end and can be a long walk depending on which way the train comes ito the station. If you have the opportunity to travel by TGV, it should not be missed.
High speed rail all the way, an experience that should not be missed. Book seats if using Eurail as a supplement is payable and be aware of platform allocations in France as these often occur 15 or 20 minutes before the train is due to leave. Luxury high speed train travel at its best.
Best way to travel Europe by far - relaxed and comfortable, no queues, travel to airports or waiting time. Just arrive 15 mins beforehand at the central train station and you're on you way. Heaps of leg room and comfort in first class, even meals and drinks brought to your seat like in an airline. Fantastic experience, plus the added bonus of being to watch the countryside change as you travel from place to place. Definitely recommended to those trying to decide between rail and air travel, and I'll definitely be back!
Extremely comfortable trip. Snacks on board were very good and the crew was very polite and helpful. The punctuality was impressive.
We had a booking which found us directly behind the engine in a tiny carriage of 18 seats! Our daughter's seat number was blocked by two passengers who parked their bicycles across seats 14 - 18. Fortunately there was a spare seat for her and although nothing was said, all the other passengers showed utter amazement that this could be allowed and no comment made by the train conductors who came around regularly to check tickets! Other than that the teain travel was comfortable.
This was a lovely way to see the countryside of France and Switzerland. The trip was seamless and very comfortable. Had no problems travelling this way at all.
comfortable and clean. will travel again in the future. great choice to recommend to friends.
Very smooth fast train trip, highly recommended as opposed to bus travel. The speed hit about 320klms per hour.
This is my first train experience in Europe, London to Paris, Paris to Zurich and Zurich to Rome. Don't have to get to airport two hours beforehand nor expensive taxi fare since train stations are in city centres. Very relax, comfortable, first class is better but much more expensive, standard or second class is still way more comfortable than the cattle class in aeroplane! However, changing platforms for connecting trains to Rome at Milan can be a challenge, do allow time for delays(Italian!) and walk from one platform to another if you have heavy luggages! More importantly, I did enjoy the passing scenery along the way and occasional spectacular view in the alp!
The trip was excellent. The key is to go 1st class. With an upstairs seat and the least amount of luggage. We had a choice of meal - Cold duck or cold scallops. I suggest you take your own sandwich and have a cold beer on the train to wash it down with. C Don't expect any assistance getting on or off the train as you are left to your own devices. You only get 30 mins notice of what platform you are raving from and in all cases the train pulls in leaving you 10 mins to find your carriage and board with your luggage.
