Milan is a main Italian city and regarded as the fashion capital of Europe. Milan is also an transport hub for Italy. The city has an important stake in the finance, commerce, media and sport of Italy. Two of its football teams, Inter Milan and Milan AC, are known throughout the world. Milan is located in the north west of Italy and is home to a number of museums, designers factory shops, churches and other landmarks. Those who love street style would love the Navigli area. Naples, also known as Napoli in Italian, is one of the oldest cities in the world. The city was already inhabited 9 centuries before the common era. Located on the shadow of the majestic Mt Vesuvius, the city is a real life theatre. The city has retained a cultural and local feel with vintage tailors and family restaurants to bear testimony. Naples is a passionate city where ancient passageways, secret courtyard and ancient cults reside. Naples is an all year round destination. However the city is more visited during the month of May due to the Maggio dei Monumenti festival.
Reviews & ratings Milan - Naples
The trip was comfortable, on time to the second, and convenient. I wish Italy would do something about the crime in their train stations because that makes each end of the trip stressful.
On a recent journey from Rome to Naples, my friend and I were travelling first class. When the train arrived to a stop on the platform, 4 young males and one female approached us and wanted to "help with our bags". This group of individuals were quite persistent and became aggressive when we said we did not need help. They tried to take our bags and act as though they were trying to put them onto the train. When we finally got onto the train, the young girl climbed in and started hassling other passengers, this time an older couple. We all finally managed to remove the individuals from train before finding our seats. I am not sure what the gang of individuals were after, presumably to act as though they are "helping us with our bags" and then to ask for money or to steal bags as we were stuck on the train. I felt as though there was no security presence at roma termini. All of this was occuring in broad daylight. It was certainly a scary experience, I can't imagine how confronting it must have been for the older couple. I have travelled on many trains in Italy and in europe and I feel this was a first. Many other countries have a security check prior to entering the platform, I feel this, if implemented in Rome would prevent such opportunists from entering trains. I feel access to platforms should be checked and restricted to those with a valid ticket. As a tourist, this experience detracted from my appreciation of an otherwise fantastic train service.
