Reviews & ratings Barcelona - Montpellier
Comfortable carriages, very fast train, nice lunch (1st class). Usual problem - no indication of which end of the train to board that results in running the length of a crowded platform with heavy suitcases.
We booked first class seats for the journey - everything was good except surprised with seat allocation - there was a lot of spare seats in our cabin however the assigned seats for us where next to a wall with very little view. Would have liked to be able to pick seats as on plane bookings.
With memories from 2013 of a scrummage to board the train to Narbonne we arrived at Sants not looking forward to our upcoming journey. What a change! Plenty of time to board an empty, duplex train and appart from the expectation to haul our luggage upstairs (which I wasn't capable of, so it tresspassed on the lower level). Good personal space, coupled with travelling backwards meant an enjoyable trip to Montpellier, enjoying the view along the way. Tasty snacks we had from the bar, just a carriage away. Downers were the impossibly small toilets and having to 'fight' with thoseboarding passengers who didn't have the manners to allow us to get off first.
Always enjoy our train trips. Very happy with the booking process and the journey. Only one small problem. We have to print out our tickets rather than keep the information on our phones like the airlines do. This can be a problem for travellers finding a printer.
really comfortable and smooth trip. Easy to understand tickets and train stations. Will do again
The trains in France are not as smooth as the Renfe trains. The station of Montpellier could really do with lots more seating considering it is a major train station where many passengers change trains and waiting times between trains can be considerably long. The train seats were comfortable. The Renfe train was very comfortable and even has a movie to watch.
We had a comfort trip but there was no food or drinks available until we reached Lyon. We enjoyed our train travel and we would definitely book with rail europe again.
The train was on schedule and we arrived on time.
It has been a very long time since I last travelled by train in Europe. I was certainly impressed with how quick the trip is and enjoyed the comfort and cleanliness of the train. Looking forward to further train travel in the future.
clean, efficient and enjoyable
