Bern, the capital of Switzerland
Bern is the capital city of the Swiss Confederation and the fourth most populous city in Switzerland. Bern is surrounded on three sides by the river Aare, and is located just west of the centre of Switzerland and north of the Bernese Alps. The magnificent countryside around Bern was formed by glaciers during the Ice Age. The historic old town of Bern, is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Milan is a main Italian city and regarded as the fashion capital of Europe. Milan is also an transport hub for Italy. The city has an important stake in the finance, commerce, media and sport of Italy. Two of its football teams, Inter Milan and Milan AC, are known throughout the world. Milan is located in the north west of Italy and is home to a number of museums, designers factory shops, churches and other landmarks. Those who love street style would love the Navigli area. In Piazza XXIV Maggio, shoppers will find brands such Custo-Barcellona, Diesel, Miss Sixteen, Gas and Fornarina, alongside second-hand clothes shops, handmade clothes and accessory stores made from silk and other precious materials.

Reviews & ratings Bern - Milan
Having pre-booked tickets made our travels much less stressful. With typical Swiss precision the train left on time and the trip was smooth and extremely comfortable. The windows were clean giving a clear view of the snow-covered countryside. I will certainly make the same arrangements when I am next able to travel through Europe.
As the train was late arriving in Milano, we missed our train to Venice, so purchased another ticket on the next train.
The Intercity Express is very convenient. The train is somewhat older than the new Eurostars but sufficiently comfortable and is still the best way to commute on this sector. In addition the beatiful views along Lake Maggiore and winding through the Alps add to the pleasure of the trip.
