Reviews & ratings Carcassonne - Lyon
Smooth, comfortable and on time, but the connection for our ongoing trip to Paris was tight - we only made it by a few minutes. The only downside was the fact that to access the platform at Carcassone we had to go up and down flights of stairs which with heavy luggage and at our age (77) was an ordeal. This is a real problem with all French stations and the Paris Metro - something must be done, it is unacceptable.
Great trains, great service. Only complaint is lugging large suitcases up and down stairs at major stations with no elevators or esculaters.
This TGV trip was excellent in every respect.
The hardest part of this journey was trying to beat the rush to the carriages and identifying which one was yours. Once we figured that out the journey went without a hitch. We did travel to the buffet cart but found that the queue was too long. Better to bring your own snacks along from what I could see, and cheaper. All in all a positive experience.
Had a great trip on French Rail. Great seats, easy to book and everything ran on time. My only complaint is that it is VERY expensive. Also, in this review, I chose to check single because there is no place to check friends. I travelled with a friend. We're not a couple, or family or a group.
We took six train trips in September 2013, a mixture of first and second class tickets. The train journeys were very enjoyable. It was far less stressful than driving while following GPS directions and watching for road signs in French. The only negatives were the last minute posting of the platform number for the train and the confusing order of the carriages. Sometimes the carriage number signs on the carriages did not match the signs on the platform display. Both these contribute to a free-for-all rush carrying luggage up and down stairs.
The trip was only a couple of hours. Safe, comfortable, clean and on time. Great value for money. Beats driving hands down.
