Reviews & ratings Florence - Rome
A great journey. Train was clean, on time and comfortable. We will certainly use this service again.
We recently travelled from Florence to Rome having booked well ahead from Australia. In all respects the journey was excellent. The train left and arrived on time, the seats were extremely comfortable, clean and in good order and the journey was smooth and fast. It leaves Australian train travel for dead when it comes to cost, convenience, comfort and, above all, reliability.
We recently traveled from Rome to to Florence on Rail Europe, it is by far the easiest, most convenient and cost effective way to travel that we found. We would highly recommend this to any traveller
Recently I travelled by train from Rome to Florence. It was at the end of six weeks of travelling in Europe so I was tired and looking forward to a restful trip. It turned out that way luckily and although I had plans to enjoy the views from the comfort of my seat, I had a good sleep! Not sure if I should recommend a trip that sends you to sleep when you should be on the lookout for castles, vineyards and olive groves. C'est la vie.
This short trip was on a very comfortable "Italo" train - the best they have. The ticketless arrangements work efficiently and the overall experience was excellent - except for the lack of clarification of departing from Ostiense station. As we arrived at Rome Termini, on a train from Venice that stopped at Florence en route, we foolishly thought Termini was our station. Our fault, and with an hour to spare, made our way (with luggage) on the Metro to Ostiense. Bad move - it's a difficult station to get to without help and the "Italo" platform is the most distant from the entrance. We still made it with some time to spare and really enjoyed the experience once on board.
Our experience on the train from Firenze to Roma was excellent. The booking system with Rail Europe worked perfectly and we arrived in Roma relaxed and having had a very comfortable trip....much easier than driving. The train departed and arrived on time. The staff and service were very good indeed and we really enjoyed our travel through the countryside.
Our experience was very positive. It was very easy to book and print our tickets through Rail Europe. The site is easy to navigate and user friendly. The trip was great. We were staying across the road and could walk to the station. The train was very comfortable and plenty of taxis were available when we arrived in Rome.
A very easy, fast, convenient way to travel from Rome to Florence. Carriages are clean and comfortable. Storage of luggage available for travellers. Would not travel any other way through Italy.
Our trip from Florence to Rome by high speed train was easy and efficient. The ticketless fare was a dream despite my initial reservations. The train inspector simply entered our number into his phone and welcomed us on board. Our train notched 250 km per hour easily and could easily have done 300 km per hour. I was impressed by the smoothness and comfort and can't wait to use the trains again. We have also travelled from Turin to Florence by high speed train. Again a delightful journey. It certainly beats the hassle of air travel!
We have very pleasant experience with our recent train trips in Italy; we have traveled between Venice - Florence, Florence-Bolongna, Bolongna-Rome on the high speed trains. The cabin has been very modern, clean with comfortable and large seats, and the foods from the on-board kitchen were reasonable priced. The staff including conductors were friendly, although some of them only speak limited English (but hey, this is in Italy). The train system in Italy is more friendly for passengers than in France, you are allowed to get on the train without showing tickets, which are randomly inspected by the onboard conductors. Fast, comfortable, reliable, and in-expensive way of travel in Italy!
Getting from Roma Termini to Firenze SMN in the super-fast Frecciarossa was great value if book early. It was so quick, frequent, comfortable and simple, especially considering the amount and variety of accommodation available at each end within easy walking distance. SO much easier than trying to negotiate the impossibly crowded and complex road system in the old cities. Only hassle was lifting luggage up into carriages from low platforms.
Great trip from Firenze to Roma, with great seats and only one stop on the way.
Very comfortable and fast trip to Florence from Rome, on time too ! Return journey just as good Highly recommend
I would recommend the Italian train network to anybody. We recently travelled first class from Florence to Rome, value for money was fantastic, the train and staff were great, it was comfortable, relaxing and on time. The journey was totally different than the air option. quicker, more comfortable, cheaper and delivered us into the heart of the city saving us another 30 Euro in cab fares
