Reviews & ratings London - Lille
I had a very smooth trip once on board. The train left and arrived on time. Seats were comfortable. I didn't quite understand what was involved in checking in at St Pancras. Luckily I left any enough time to get through security and passport control. However, I had arrived quite early as it turned out and my ticket was checked by the staff at the entrance to the departure area. I then caused quite a hold up in my queue trying to scan my boarding ticket. It turned out I was trying to check in too early! My train wasn't open yet. I felt foolish and those behind got quite cranky. Perhaps a Beginners Guide to Departures" would be useful to print on ticket or in response to a suitable question at time of purchase. It would help others and avoid cranky passengers.. I am catching return train tomorrow so hopefully I will better at it this time! Cheers v
It certainly is quicker and easier to travel by train to France from London. No waiting at airports - dead time, easy to unload, no waiting for luggage.
So quick, so easy - a must do. Enjoyed the trip very much.
The trip was most enjoyable. Staff were polite and showed concern for the travellers. Train was on time. A most enjoyable experience. Would recommend this trip to my friends
From booking my ticket in Australia to getting on the train in Lille it was smooth and there was not a problem. On time, fast, clean and reliable. What more is required?
I was not sure how I'd cope when I boarded the train and found I would be sitting backwards to the line of travel. However, the train travels so fast that one isn't aware of the movement, so all was well.
Train travel is Europe is easy once you understand the system. The fares are quite high but it is preferable to travel by air. You get to see the country and can move about comfortable on the train. The dining car was a very friendly extra we enjoyed. The system was efficient and on time, with very friendly staff. It would have been great to have somewhere to plug in the laptop though? Thank you.
The Eurostar experience was very good. Despite a long wait to be processed through the Customs checks our train left right on time, we thoroughly enjoyed the journey to Lille Europe Our return was just as enjoyable, thank you Rail Europe and Eurostar.
The trick here is to try to get accommodation near your start and end points. The train was very comfortable with power outlets to plug in your tablet or phone. The available food was average but as the trip was so quick it didn't really matter.
super convenient and reasonably cheap. I cannot think of a better way to travel between london and the continent.
Effortless and streamlined with our preprinted tickets. I guess the only thing I needed to be reminded about was the 1 hour time difference between leaving London and arriving at Lille.
My review is not a favourable one. There was very little information in English however the French staff at St. Pancras were friendly and helpful with the exception of the dear little man at passport control who could do with some training on how to smile and be pleasant to people. Frankly, as first class travellers we were disappointed with both the level of comfort and the lack of a catering service in the first class cars. Not even a trolley service. The French TGV trains offer a higher degree of comfort than Eurostar.
in planning and booking my trip online and talking to no one, I booked a ticket for the wrong destination. I was able to get a second train to the right place but it was some what inconvenient. regards Mark
The trip was good, quick and convenient. The train left and arrived on time and announcements were clear and concise.
Very comfortable and efficient with smooth connection.
