Reviews & ratings Lyon - Geneva
We enjoyed our trip on the fast train to Geneva which left on time from Gare du Lyon in Paris. Our seats were clean and comfortable. Our only complaint would be the small amount of bag storage which for a family of 5 from Australia travelling for a month meant our large bags took about 60% of the storage space for the entire car.
Train travel in Europe was excellent. Zurich/Arosa/Zurich. Then, Zurich, Milano, Geneva, Lyon, Dijon, Paris, London. Trains in Switzerland even had phone/lap top chargers available at each seat. Just one minor disappointment; one of my seats was in a spot in the carriage where there was no window. Sometimes the train was high above the platform but I never had difficulty finding someone to help lift my heavy suitcase.
Having arrived in Bern on time we then changed trains to go to Geneva. Easy tranfer by changing platforms. Bern to Geneva was very picturesque in areas. Geneva station central and we walked to our hotel.
I was really impressed with the service after the long and tedious bus trip from Geneva to Bellegarde-sur-Valserine due to track works. The staff were very apologetic and incredibly helpful. The free fruit and cold water helped compensate for the inconvenience. After that the TGV trip was amazingly pleasant. A great way to travel.
Left on time and travel was comfortable. We had brought a delicious lunch with us and with our group of 4 it was easy to share at our table. Coffee sold on the train however was not good.
A very comfortable trip. Staff at Geneve CFF were helpful directing us to the correct platform after we arrived from Geneva Airport.
Train was old but comfortable but most importantly on time. As it was an early departure we were looking to have breakfast on the train. Unfortunately the food available (selection) was very limited and what was available was of a very poor quality - I strongly suggest to purchase any food required prior to departure.
Good trip for 2nd class and good facilities. Baggage area bit small bit adequate. Train on time.
