Reviews & ratings Paris - Avignon
A comfortable journey a very helpful and pleasant chap in the food carriage made the journey more enjoyable he went out of his way to find out a question I had asked well done
The booking system was easy and efficient and a small glitch with a payment system was resolved smoothly. The European train system is amazing. So efficient with staff carrying out duties professionaly and proudly. Comfortable, fast and timely. An absolute pleasure and wonderful experience. The best way to travel and enjoy the scenery at its best.
I missed my original train but it was my fault. TVG accommodated me on a later train, although the original tickets could not be honoured. No complaints at all.
Unfortunately our trip was delayed for nearly an hour. As we were not fluent French speakers we had no idea as to how long our train would be delayed and what the problem was. Even though we were in first class, no guard came along until well after the delay had occurred to give any information. Surely with the number of English speaking passengers on these trains, information could be given clearly in English especially as many were travelling to catch international air flights.
We booked for convenience and got that and more! Punctuality, reliability, clean trains, professional staff.....and enjoyed the scenic positives as well!
Due to a death in the family, we were unable to use our tickets. We experienced superb customer service in arranging a refund for all of our tickets. Thank you.
Everything was excellent except for one thing — we, and many other travellers, had never used the TGV service before and were not familiar with the boarding procedure. As most people had large luggage the first people to board took up all the space in the entrance while they tried to stow their luggage near the entrance rather than taking it into the carriage and stowing it at the rack provided there. This meant that other passengers could NOT get on in the short period of time allowed before the doors are shut and the train leaves the station. On our trip 10 plus passengers were left behind. Perhaps entry to the carriage by seat number would make sense?
Although travelling in 2nd class train seating was comfortable with plenty of leg room, I am 185Cm tall. Toilets were clean and more than adequate storgae space provided for luggage.
Very comfortable and on time. 3 Hour trip was good, but some refreshments would be nice. Getting heavy suitcases on and off is always a hassle.
Lack of help from information booth at Avignon regarding luggage and if it could be booked thru to Paris - No Help As we were on the upper level of Carriage it was difficult to handle luggage.
Not cheap if you have to travel at a certain time but comfortable and quick. Not being able to choose a seat facing forward or backwards was annoying as you don't know til you are on board. I prefer the single level train as not having to lug your suitcases up and down stairs so much. Went class 1 which was probably not worth the extra if you are on a budget.
We appreciated being able to print the tickets online at home, and the great value for money. There were no hitches, and it was the start of a wonderful holiday in France.
The TGV trip to Paris from Avignon was punctual, comfortable and a pleasant experience for us. However an issue that does need to be addressed is the storage area for luggage. There was simply not enough room for all of the suitcases that passengers in our carriage had resulting in a haphazard pile blocking the entrance both to the carriage and the toilet.
i believe your fast trains should have free wi fi as they do in England. This would be very helpful for overseas travelers
