Reviews & ratings Spiez - Milan
We had booked 2nd class seats on the train several months earlier. We are from Australia and had spent Christmas in Switzerland and were catching the train to Florence. My wife and I each had a 20kg bag and a small cabin bag. When we got on the train, the luggage area was so packed with people and luggage that it was impossible to get to our seats. We got out at the next stop and took our luggage to get on at the other end of the carriage thinking this might be less crowded but it wasnt. I sent my wife to find out seats and I stayed in the crowded vestibule standing over the exit steps trying to hang onto our luggage. At each stop, more people got on with their luggage which made things worse. It seemed that more tickets had been sold than seats were available. Also, I didnt see any train staff members the whole trip and was unable to have my duty free forms processed. This was the worst train trip I have had. I know it was a busy time of year but this was ridiculous.
Would recommend trains over planes or buses
