Reviews & ratings Venice - Rome

  • "Better than flying!"
Comfortable, fast and relaxing. No complaints at all.
  • "Night train to Paris"
Hi, We recently travelled overnight by train from Venice to Paris. The booking process was horrendous and we ended up paying nearly $500AU for each person. I asked for a price for 4 people, accepted the price I was given and when I paid, only 1 ticket for 2 people came. I was then told it was that much again for another 2 people! The room on the train was clean and ready and we were given free drinks on arriving. At 2am we were woken by border patrol banging on the door for room check and search which we did not expect and was quite invasive. The breakfast was ok, but not great, and staff were all very pleasant.l
  • "Trip from Rome to Venice"
The seats were comfortable and the journey pleasant and fast.
  • "Italian Journey"
Took train to Venice instead of flying so we could see more of the countryside. The trip was more relaxing and absorbing then flying although it was a little longer.
  • "Quick and easy!"
We found the access to the trains easy from both our departure and destination. The 3.5 hours went quickly, and liked the ease of walking straight off the train with our luggage, instead of waiting for luggage when flying. The seats were comfortable, but was very close to the person in front of you. All up it was a great trip!
  • "Relax and enjoy!"
There were 4 of us travelling together and we had seating with a table between us which was very convenient. There was food and drinks available to buy in the carriage behind us so that was very handy as being an early start we were all in need of something. The seats were comfortable and the passing countryside interesting. A great way to travel and we would certainly do it again!
  • "leisure travel"
comfortable seats, well set out with tables between seats to allow laptop/tablet usage et. Enjoyable trip with ability to view sights as you pass. Great value
  • "Rome Venice"
Excellent way to travel between Rome and Venice avoiding the wait at airports and the associated commute into and out of the respoective city. The trip itself was pleasant with the cabins clean of a high standard.
  • "train travel"
being from Australia , we are not used to train travel, having travelled from Rome to Milan , and Milan to Venice was excellent, we booked it on the internet and we dint have to convert it to tickets at the station, the trains are fast and clean and on time I will thoroughly recommend to friends
  • "Express from Venice to Rome"
I'd certainly recommened Italo as an alternative to flying. I found the trip comfortable, quick and enjoyable. Access to the train was very straight forward in Venice, the onboard service was pleasant. I'd have no hesitation using Italo in future.
  • "Rome - Venice"
Not a lot of room for suitcases or luggage at your seat. One passenger was travelling with a Beagle dog - things are different in Europe! We somehow managed to leave our $600 camera on the train in our rush to get off with luggage for a month in Europe. Realised it was left within half hour of leaving, though water taxi driver wouldn't go back saying it would be gone. Went back to train station in Venice within 2 hours and went to Italiarail office, hoping it may have been placed in lost and found. Unfortunately no such thing exists in Italy - more like finders keepers. Man in office wasn't very helpful either. People beware of your belongings on the train. We've since heard stories of people taking your luggage from the train at different stops along the way.
  • "Excellent service"
    Comfortable
  • "Okay"
Enjoyed sitting in open car than being in a compartment. Think next time we will go first class or get our own compartment.
  • "Rome to Venice"
Great ecperience, service was outstanding, will definately be using Frecciaross again!
  • "Feedback "
When we arrived on the platform (11 people travelling together) we were greeted by ? Staff who went about helping us get our luggage on board and assisting us to our seats. They then demanded 5 euro per suitcase for the assistance, which was not asked for by any of us. We felt we needed to pay as they were very insistent on us paying. If they are not working for you then this practice needs to be stopped immediately as it is day light robbery. We had 4 capable strong men in our group more than able to lift suitcases, however as first time travellers by train in Europe we had no idea that we needed to be suspicious of this type of behaviour, especially as they were on board the train. Other passengers around were very angry also.
