Angers, let you tell history through architecture and tapestries!

Angers is a 150.000 inhabitants city, located in the north-western part of France. Cradle of the Plantagenêt dynasty, who gave us great kings and queens, Angers was the historic capital of the "Anjou" region, and the cultural heritage remind us this important period.

About France

Labelled as a "ville d’art et d’histoire", (art and history city), Angers is a pleasant place to stay ant to live in.

Discover the huge château built along the Maine river. Set on neolithic and gallo-roman remains, the construction started during the 13th century. Wow in front of its 17 impressive and forbidding towers, and be touched by the largest medieval "Apocalypse hanging", housed in the building. It measures more than 100 meters and dates back to the 14th century!

Do not miss the St Maurice cathedral, introducing the angevin gothic style in the region. Have a walk in the tiny streets and admire some half-timbered houses.

    Paris to the country | Aaron l. | 2013/10/25
"We took a TGV train trip from Paris to Angers (Loire Valley). The booking process was easy, and we were able to find a time and price which suited our needs. Locating the correct carriage and seat was difficult when we arrived late, so I would recommend arriving 20 mins early if you have reserved a specific seat. It can also be difficult to find room for storage of your luggage if you arrive late. Definitely a fast and cost effective way to travel around in Europe. "

    Best to pre-book train tickets | Brenda b. | 2013/07/23
"While train travel was relatively quick, convenient and good value for money, the conditions were not entirely comfortable. It is difficult to travel with suitcases as there is limited space to stack them at the ends of carriages. There is a great rush when the train arrives and people tend to ignore the seat numbers so that it is awkward for a familly to find seats together after the first rush of people have occupied the more easily accessible seats. Some of the seats needed cleaning. Good idea to pre-book tickets as buying on day of travel is very time-consuming and frustrating. "
