Calais, have you ever take a train… under the sea?

You will find Calais in the French department Pas de Calais between the Channel and the North Sea. Only 38 kilometres away from the English coasts, Calais is world-known thanks to the Channel Tunnel and of course its famous lace.

About France

Start your discovery of Calais by climbing up to the top of the lighthouse to appreciate a magnificent view onto sea, countryside and town.

Take a walk in the 16th century Citadel of which two Doors are listed Historical Monuments. Be amazed by the "Red Fort" built on stilts in the 17th century and the "Nieulay Fort" restored from 1989. Don’t miss the 38 meters high "Tour du Guet" from the 13th century, one of the oldest monuments of Calais, located nearby the famous "Place d’Armes".

Take time to see the lovely Notre-Dame church in its specific Tudor style and the most famous sculpture by Rodin: "Les Bourgeois de Calais".

Train station(s)

Trains are a convenient way of reaching many towns and cities throughout Europe. The majority of cities in Europe have a minimum of one train station, while larger, more populated cities have two or more stations. Train stations, in general, are located in the heart of the city. Review the map below to get an idea of where the train station(s) in Calais can be found.

    Travelling from Paris. | Coleen d. | 2014/10/21
"I was told don't drive in Paris. We caught the train from Charles De Gaulle airport to Lille before collecting a car. Fantastic idea. Great train trip. NON STOP and fast. We had plenty of room to place our luggage and a very comfortable seat even after 27hrs in a plane to get there. The train was clean and quiet. I would recommend this to anyone. I was very impressed.
