Living the high life

Cannes rolls out the red carpet for you

Sleek, sunny and celebrity-studded, Cannes is a French Riviera city and a curving crescent of beaches, designer shops, Art Deco architecture and weather-beaten pétanque players wedged between the Mediterranean and the back-county hills.

About France

The glamorous side of Cannes can be admired by visiting the "Palais des Festivals et des Congrès" or by being present at its world-famous movie Festival. You can also discover the old town on top of the famous hill of Le "Suquet" where you can visit the ramparts and the Museum de la Castre, ideally housed in the ruins of a medieval castle.

Take the opportunity to appreciate the amazing view over the city, the port, the Croisette and the Lérins Islands. At the foot of the old town, enjoy shopping in the Forville market or in the main artery: the Antibes street.

Finally, go for a walk along the Old Port full of old rigs and yachts.

Train station(s)

Trains are a convenient way of reaching many towns and cities throughout Europe. The majority of cities in Europe have a minimum of one train station, while larger, more populated cities have two or more stations. Train stations, in general, are located in the heart of the city. Review the map below to get an idea of where the train station(s) in Cannes can be found.

"Great views of rural France and very comfortable seats and great value for money. Only disappointment was no food available in 1st Class and a long queue for a sandwich. Take lunch with you ! "

"Had a great journey, bought first class tickets for the long journey, this was well worth the extra cost. Very comfortable seats and enjoyed the trip very much. "

"My own fault for not checking with attendants first on which carridge to board. I lost my telephone. But...... I got a coffee, People I talked to where really friendly, coaches were clean and comfortable and I reached my destination in time. Thanks for the memories. Lynda from Melbourne, Victoria. "

"Train on time, comfortable seat and very good facilities. Staff very helpful. I really enjoyed the experience, especially the route along the coast as the train approached Cannes. Much better than flying. "

    Good Trip | Brendon m. | 2014/10/26
"We had a very pleasant trip from Cannes to Paris. The train was comfortable and the seats had plenty of room. The only issue we had was understanding the process at the station in Cannes. We were originally told by the "Information Officers" at Cannes Station that taking our luggage on board would "not be possible", however we had pre-booked first class seats. Once we figured out the system and understood where our seats would be on which carriage on the station platform, we simply moved to that point and boarded the train when it arrived. It might help if some of this information could be explained on the e-mail ticket which we had printed out as the "Information Officers" did not seem that helpful, nor could they understand English. Once on the train the trip was very enjoyable and we would use the service again. "

    TGV Experience | Suzanne f. | 2014/05/18
"The TGV is a great way to travel across France. Although there was insufficient storage facilities for large luggage, the overall experience was still very pleasant and comfortable. "

"The direct TGV to Paris is so easy, cheaper than taking a flight, and takes about the same time. And one gets to see France. It is recommended that you take a snack with you though because the line up to buy food in the buffet car can be long if travelling at meal times. "
