Como, just a delightful place to stay in Italy

Northern Italian city Como sits at the tip of fairytale Lake Como, whose Alpine shores are ringed by 17th-century villas and colourful gardens. While in the city centre, shop for local silk accessories and marvel at the Renaissance and Gothic-style cathedral.

About Italy

Even Madonna and George Clooney couldn’t resist the obvious charm of Como and have properties in its surroundings. Plus many films were shot there. The magical view on the lake, plus the impressive mountains around are the perfect setting for rich and impressive patrimony of Como.

Churches steming from the medieval times up to the Baroque style, countless villas covering the same eras, and many parks. Almost every charm you want to enjoy about Northern Italy is to be found in Como. One never gets bored nor hungry in this town, as the world famous polenta originates from there.

Just take the train and come, your appetite for Como will never cease.

    Amazing Scenery  | Charles o. | 2015/10/13
"The station in Zurich is very conveniently set within an easy walk of hotels and most tourist attractions. A great break from air travel.Connections to other cities is very simple at Zurich. Food at Zurich station was very expensive as were the toilets. Scenery was amazing "

"We arrived in Zurich from Como and found that the train on the adjacent platform was the Basel double-decker train. How convenient and efficient!! "

    Zurich to Como | Murray m. | 2014/09/26
"The trip was very good, but booking the ticket was a real pain in the butt. I kept getting told that I could book a ticket three months in advance. I was finally able to book a ticket four weeks in advance and not in the section I wanted even though there was actually lots of seats available on the actual trip. "

Great view but dirty train | Peter e. | 2014/06/07
"The trip from Como to Zurich is a marvellous way to see the lower Swiss Alps but the train was filthy, despite the nearly 4 hour travelling time. "

  • Station / PLatform Access | . | 2014/05/02
"The biggest challenge a traveler (when traveling with multiple pieces of luggage and being a senior) has using the rail network is accessing platforms where stairs are the only access option. Both the physical effort of navigating stairs the security risk of being separated from your luggage as you take a portion of your luggage to the top/bottom of the stairs and return to bring the balance to the top/bottom. The Como s Giovanni station was designated as having "wheelchair" access. The wheelchair access technology is not!!!! Identifying where to stand on the platform so as to be where "your" carriage will be was a constant issue. Having said all this "loved the experience" and will recommend this to family friends. Thank you "

    Zurich to Como | Sharon f. | 2013/10/22
"We enjoyed the ride but found the level of convenience wanting. Meaning that you don't seem to allow much space for luggage and being international travellers visiting various countries we noticed a major lacking in space for luggage at either end of the train carriages. This is something that perhaps you need to give some thought to. "

"Having just travelled from Milan to Lake Como return we found it effortless and much more efficient. No problems at all. "

"Great service and excellent train facilities "

  • Golden Pass Train | Chris n. | 2012/10/29
"This is NOT an Italian train as per this review's category - it is a Swiss train. Suggest that 2nd class would have provided sufficient comfort and viewing. Publicity for this train is a little over rated, great ride if part of trip (i.e. we were travelling Montreux to Interlaken) but would suggest extra consideration if embarking just for special experience.
