Warsaw, the increasingly popular destination!
Warsaw, the capital of Poland
Warsaw is the capital of Poland and the country’s most populated city (6h15 trip or 3h trip from Krakow). It is the main political, cultural, educational and business centre of Poland. Warsaw is a city full of extremes – of old, historic buildings and new modern skyscrapers designed by world-renown architects. Looking at this city, it is hard to believe that it was almost razed to the ground during the World War II.
Visit the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site and Warsaw’s most beautiful historic buildings which lie along the historical Royal Route. The coloured townhouses surrounded by defensive walls, the spires of the churches and the Royal Castle are magnificent sights.
Have a look at the Palace of Culture and Science, one of the most striking landmarks on Warsaw’s skyline, designed by Soviet architect Lev Rudniev. Afterwards have a break in the beautiful Łazienki Park which is located southwards.
Getting to and from Warsaw
Trains are a convenient way of reaching many towns and cities throughout Europe. The majority of cities in Europe have a minimum of one train station, while larger, more populated cities have two or more stations. Train stations, in general, are located in the heart of the city.
